The GRN Executive Committee took time during SpillCon in Perth to have its annual face-to-face meeting. One of the items on the agenda was to appoint a new chairman as Leif Kvamme had reached the end of his two-year tenure. Nick Quinn was unanimously appointed.
Leif: “My two years as GRN chair ended this summer. Two years with increased activities, friendship and understanding. We also welcomed a new member – CGA – meaning new expertise and friends into our network. I appreciate the dedication of the GRN members, EC and OTs. The recognition of GRN in international forums like IPIECA and IOSC makes me proud of being part of GRN.
Thank you for all support during my two years as chair, and good luck to Nick taking GRN further.”
Nick: “The GRN journey continues to evolve with our member organisations committing a lot of knowledge, expertise and resource into maintaining a cooperative, collective network of like-minded responders operating in a common environment. Recent changes include the network understanding how to share people and equipment during responses and focusing our operational teams into key response areas of surveillance, offshore and ice-covered waters for the overall benefit of increasing effectiveness and efficiency. As the new Chair for the GRN, I am delighted to be a part of this evolution and find the work within the network, to be hugely beneficial personally and professionally – thank you Leif, for the efforts and results you led us into during your tenure.”
